Wellness Fair Celebrates Wolfpack Way of Life

NC State will host the inaugural Wellness Fair on Thursday, February 23 from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in the Talley Student Union State Ballroom. Spearheaded by the University Wellness Task Force, this event aims to put the spotlight on Wolfpack Wellness as part of their mission to recognize and celebrate campus-wide wellbeing.

The fair will showcase some of the best resources available to the NC State community, including more 70 vendors from operations on campus and in the greater community. Though representatives from the featured resources will distribute materials and answer questions, they will also provide services to guests.

According to University Wellness Specialist Shannon DuPree, β€œ[University Wellness] plans for this event to be very interactive.” Students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to receive various services for all aspects of their health, including blood pressure checks, body composition screenings, and Invisalign dental fittings.

The first 1500 people to arrive will receive a free tote bag to carry their collected giveaways from various vendors, which will also include eight food vendors such as Naked, Dannon, and Howling Cow.

The resources will represent the six elements of wellness as recognized by NC State, which includes: Career, Emotional, Social, Physical, Financial and Community. Representatives from Wells Fargo will educate guests on the career and financial aspects of wellness while Student Involvement will focus on the social and community components.

In conjunction with the first Wellness Fair, University Wellness recently launched their new website, Wolfpack Wellness to highlight all available resources to members of the NC State Community. DuPree reports that although University Recreation is taking the lead on organizing this event, the fair is for the entire community of faculty, staff, and students. β€œThe overall mission is to raise awareness for Wolfpack Wellness, our campus-wide initiative to educate people on the six elements of wellness.”
