Wolfpack Way of Life Educates Campus Community on Healthy Living

NC State held their annual Wellness Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in the Talley Student Union State Ballroom. Coordinated by the newly named ThriveWell team, this event is meant to shine a light on the importance of campus-wide well-being.

Every booth offered something unique for participants to partake in. With more than 70 vendors, including both on and off-campus entities, there was no shortage of things to see.

Representatives answered participants’ questions, provided informational materials regarding their respective vendors and provided services to promote the fair’s goal of enhancing campus-wide health. There was a booth that checked the security of students’ accounts and educated them about Duo Authentication, a booth that offered blood pressure checks, as well as a booth that provided massages.

Every table that was set up in the ballroom represented one of NC State’s six elements of wellness, including: Career, Emotional, Social, Physical, Financial and Community. PNC Bank was available to talk to students, faculty and staff about financial planning, while organizations such as Carowinds and Wet N Wild Water Park were there to remind participants that staying active can be fun.

According to University Wellness Specialist Shannon DuPree, this semester’s fair was unique in that Student Health Services had their own sector of booths that highlighted a multitude of services they offer, including a section dedicated to a “Safer Spring Break”. Campus Dining along with Howling Cow, Dannon, Sambazon and other vendors were also featured, all offering different samples of healthy foods.

Students, faculty and staff were all welcome to walk through the fair to learn more about what the university, as well as the surrounding community, has to offer in regards to wellness.
