Campus Partners Provide Yoga Study Break for Students

Yoga and Yogurt is one of the Finals Survival Week events and was held on December 9. Throughout this week, University Recreation, University Dining, the Counseling Center, Student Health Services, and Alcohol & Other Drug Prevention Education will be collaborating to offer events and giveaways. The Yoga and Yogurt event was held in the Mountains Ballroom in Talley Student Union. The event had approximately 65 participants, and the first 30 who pre-registered received a free yoga mat from Dannon. The event consisted of a yoga class, a short, ten minute meditation session, and yogurt provided by Dannon.

University Recreation provided the yoga instructor and mats, the Counseling Center provided the short meditation session, and University Dining worked with Dannon to get the yogurt for the event. University Recreation Wellness Coordinator Suzanne Hunt said, “The event was a huge success. The turnout from the event has made me confident that next year can be bigger and better. I think the Campus Partners all worked well together to make an amazing event. It seemed like all the participants had a lot of fun, which is great.”

Suzanne is correct in assuming the participants enjoyed the event. Graduate Student Anila said, “The event was really good. I enjoyed it and thought it was really good yoga class.I thought all my stress melted away.” Anila is not the only student who enjoyed the event. Sophomore Abby said, “I loved this event, it was so great to take a break from the stress of exams and participate in yoga and meditate.”

Finals Survival Week has been successful in all aspects, and University Recreation is excited to participate and provide events in the future.
