Group Fitness Kicks off the Semester with Glow with the Flow Event
With the spring semester in full swing, many NC State students are already starting to feel the stress of their new classes and numerous responsibilities. To combat this stress, Group Fitness held their Glow with the Flow event on Jan. 10. Held once each semester, this event combines the relaxation of the atypical yoga flow class with the fun and entertainment of glow sticks and black lights.
There is already a lot of interest and high attendance in the normal yoga flow classes, so it was no surprise that Glow with the Flow brought an even larger audience. The students who came enjoyed their fun and relaxing evening with University Recreation. The event, like every normal yoga flow class, was free for students so many took advantage of this opportunity and decided to participate in the event.
The unique twist on a simple concept, peaked many students’ interest and allowed them to experience a different type of yoga class. Sonia Manocha, a junior studying Human Biology said, “It was a really fun way to bring creativity into yoga exercises. It was kind of distorting to have a bunch of glow sticks waving all around you, but it was very fun.” Although Sonia came to the event to step out of her comfort zone, she ended up having a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the class.
The event not only brought stress relief for that day, but it also got many students interested in attending yoga flow classes regularly. Another attendee, Chloe Alvarez, stated, “I really loved how relaxing it was, and now I know kind of what to expect if I sign up for another class.” Chloe, a freshman majoring in accounting, attended because her friends were going and they were shown the benefits that can come of the yoga flow classes Group Fitness has to offer.
