Campus Partners Team Up to Help Students De-Stress During Finals

Finals Survival Week will take place during the first week of exams from December 5-7. Throughout the week campus partners such as University Dining, the Counseling Center, Student Health Services and other student organizations will be coordinating to offer events and giveaways to help students de-stress during the chaotic time of finals.

Events will kick-off on Monday, December 5 with Student Health’s Whine + Design in the Talley Currituck Ballroom.  This event will allow students, faculty, and staff to paint away their stress while enjoying provided drinks and snacks.  No artistic abilities are necessary and participants will get to leave with their very own winter-themed painting.

On Wednesday, December 7 the Talley Wellness Takeover will begin with the headliner event Yoga and Yogurt, hosted by Student Health, University Dining and University Recreation.  A group fitness instructor will lead participants through a session of slow-moving yoga followed by a period of restorative meditation.  Free Dannon yogurt and other brain-boosting snacks will be provided as students and faculty are encouraged to mingle and unwind with their fellow yogis.

Events will run from 1:00-5:00P.M. in Talley and will also include Pop Up Stress Management + Self Care by the Counseling Center, Stressbusters: Sand Art + Nacho Bar by Student Involvement, and Chair Massages located in the Women’s Center Suite.

The final activities of Finals Survival Week will consist of the beloved Pet a Pooch where students can hang out with foster dogs to relieve their stress, and will wrap up with Breakfast + Game Night hosted by University Dining.  All events will offer free giveaway items such as wolf-shaped stress balls and hot/cold packs to help students continue their de-stressing habits for the duration of their exams.

Wellness Outreach Coordinator Suzanne Hunt hopes this collaborative effort between NC State campus partners will demonstrate to students, faculty and staff that the university recognizes that this is a very demanding time for the community. “We want to show students that we care…and help reduce their stress during a very chaotic time”.
