NC State to Host National Basketball Championship

The top intramural and club basketball teams from colleges and universities around the country will invade Carmichael Gymnasium on April 17 – 19 for the 2015 NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation National Basketball Championships. In its final year at NC State, the tournament will expand to 96 teams competing in Men’s Intramural, Men’s Club, Women’s Intramural, and Women’s Club divisions.

Teams will compete in pool play Friday evening and Saturday morning and single-elimination bracket play begins Saturday afternoon. Championship games will take place on Sunday. Tournament statistics and schedules will all be live on IMLeagues.com once the schedule is released on April 17.

NC State University Recreation will welcome over 80 staff members and 50 officials from campus recreation programs across the country. NC State students and faculty/staff members can also sign up to volunteer by contacting Tournament Director Ben Strunk at bdstrunk@ncsu.edu.

Intramural and club basketball teams have an opportunity to earn bids to the national tournament at NIRSA regional tournaments across the country, or may register for an at-large berth.
