NCAA Official kickstarts National Basketball Tournament

Doug Shows, an NCAA Division I official, delivered a keynote address to more than 150 collegiate recreation professionals and students on Thursday, April 16, as part of the NIRSA National Basketball Tournament banquet, held in Vaughn Towers at Carter-Finley Stadium.

In his keynote, Shows recalled his journey into the officiating world, which began at the age of 13. As an official for more than 25 years at the Division I level, Shows has worked in the Southeastern, Atlantic Coast, Atlantic 10, and Big East Conferences. Notably, Doug has officiated the 2014 NCAA Men’s Championship Game, between the University of Connecticut and The University of Kentucky, as well as 2015 NIT Championship game between Stanford University and the University of Miami.

The NIRSA National Basketball Championships begins play on Friday, April 17 and concludes with championship play on Sunday, April 19.
