Kick Off the New Year with Winter Welcome Week

Winter Welcome Week is back! Get ready for a week of fun, festivities and fitness education with brand new health and wellness services provided by University Recreation this spring.  From fitness classes to wellness workshops to personal training, there is sure to be something for everyone.

Events kicked off today with Fitness Orientation and Meet the Coach, where certified health coaches answered questions, provided complimentary body composition screenings and helped students create personalized wellness plans. Today was also the first day of the Group Fitness Campus Take Over, during which all group fitness classes are free throughout the first week of the semester.

Ever wanted to try BodyPump, but not sure where to start? Here’s your chance! Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 9 for an introduction workshop where you can learn about the equipment and proper form, while getting a workout in. More of a team player? Come out to our Spring Intramural Sports Extravaganza for some fun competition of knockout, spikeball, kan-jam and other games!

Thursday, Jan. 11 will host events from ThriveWell and fitness. Speak with nationally certified personal trainers to answer any fitness related questions at our Ask a Trainer event or take it slow at our Relaxation Station to relax, reset and recharge your inner batteries. You’ll enjoy chair massages, aromatherapy and healthy snacks to help you unwind and destress.

This week will also launch the beginning of our new wellness initiative, Move30 in which we encourage the wolfpack community to move for 30 minutes a day, any way they choose. Members of University Recreation will be in the Talley Student Center all day Thursday with treadmills for people to utilize from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. So come out and get moving!

Want to join to the fun? You can do what you love while getting paid by joining our team of more than 700 students, the largest student employment group on campus. Stop by our recruitment fair at the Carmichael Recreation Center Playzone between 3-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9 to learn more and send in your applications before midnight on Thursday for a chance to join the University Recreation team.
