The Ultimate Guide to Surviving Finals

As finals week rapidly approaches it can be stressful to think about the multitude of exams. To help students de-stress campus partners such as University Dining, the Counseling Center, Student Health Services and others have coordinated events and giveaways for students as part of Finals Survival Week. This will take place the first week of exams from May 1-5.

The hope is to show students that staff and faculty are looking out for them during this chaotic time. As Wellness Outreach Coordinator Suzanne Hunt puts it, “We work with multiple campus partners to provide a variety of programs to help students reduce and manage their stress during finals.”

Early on in the week, they will be hosting a Whine + Design event in the Talley Hatteras-Ocracoke  Ballroom. Students will get the chance to show their creative side while enjoying provided drinks and snacks. No matter what your artistic ability everyone is welcome and will get the chance to paint beautiful beach scenes to take home and enjoy.

The Talley wellness takeover kicks off on Wednesday, May 3 with Yoga and Yogurt in Stafford Commons. Participants will have the chance to unwind and become one with nature as a group fitness instructor leads them through yoga on the lawn. The session will end with brief meditation and free yogurt.

The events in Talley will take place from 12 p.m. – 11 p.m., and will include things such as Aromatherapy, Chair Massages located in the Student Involvement suite, and Late Night Breakfast provided by University Dining in One Earth.

The final activities of Finals Survival Week will consist of Glow with the Flow, a fun event where students will show off their yoga poses while glowing under the blacklight and will wrap up with the Bubble Soccer Tournament on Saturday, May 5.

There will be free giveaway items such as hot/cold packs and wolf-shaped stress balls to motivate students to unwind and relax during their exams.
