Wolf Camp and Wolfpack Bound
Wolf Camp and Wolfpack Bound are optional incoming student outdoor programs for new students at NC State. Students can sign up for a three or four day trip and meet other new students while engaging in outdoor activities facilitated by university professionals and student staff. This is a great way for students to get started on their NC State experience before the fall. Try a variety of sports from the comfort of a campground with Wolf Camp or go backpacking and climbing with Wolfpack Bound.
Wolf Camp is a great way for students to make friends before starting school and to be better prepared for their first day of class by learning about college from experienced student leaders. Students will first take on NC State’s high ropes course and zip line, then explore Falls Lake through hiking activities, and finally cool off in the water by canoeing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding (students will get to pick which activities they participate in). Along the way, students will camp in tents in small groups and learn outdoor skills. This fun and inclusive camp environment will encourage students to try new activities every day, enjoy fun games and campfire conversations, and meet over 20 other freshmen, all before classes even start!
Cost: $250.00
Equipment: Outdoor Adventures will provide all tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, food, and outdoor sporting equipment such as kayaks, canoes, bikes, and stand up paddle boards. Participants are required to provide their own clothing. Gear lists will be sent to each registered participant along with a Wolf Camp Welcome Packet.

Wolfpack Bound is a trip-based program for students to travel in an outdoor expedition with a small group of other first-year students and experienced leaders. Wolfpack Bound offers similar outcomes as Wolf Camp, but is better suited for students who want to get further into nature and enjoy getting to know 11 other new students over a four-day trip. Student participants will hit the trail, backpacking in the beautiful Grayson Highlands area of the Blue Ridge Mountains and climbing at Pilot Mountain State Park. Students will spend the days exploring the outdoor environment and night hanging around the campfire with new friends, learning about NC State traditions, and getting ready for the start of the school year!
Cost: $425.00
